Sharon Arena – Principal Environmental Advisor

As a result of over 17 years of experience in the environmental field, Sharon has gained an extensive skill base from both academic qualifications and vocational development. Sharon has addressed numerous issues through a variety of roles and has experience in all facets of environmental management and stakeholder liaison.
Working within both the public and private sector has provided Sharon with an understanding of the different approaches to environmental management and has allowed her to communicate effectively with corporate organisations, Regulatory Authorities and community groups. Sharon has a diversified background, having worked within the aviation, electricity and mining industries. An operational and approvals background has enabled her to understand the requirements and planning processes involved in regulatory approvals.
Through previous roles, such as Straits Resources, and during her eight years as Principal Environmental Advisor at APM, Sharon has continuously refined and improved her skills in environmental impact assessment, environmental management systems, closure planning, stakeholder consultation, budgeting, risk assessment, monitoring, auditing and training.
Antony Smith – Senior Environmental Scientist

Since joining APM in October 2010, Tony has successfully negotiated a number of environmental approvals for mining projects, including Vegetation Clearing Permits, Mining Proposals, Mine Closure Plans, EPA referrals, EPBC referrals, Project Management Plans, Construction Environmental Management Plans, Operational Environmental Management Plans, Planning Approvals, Works Approvals and Licencing.
Tony’s greatest strengths are in project management and the delivery of project work on time and on budget. His continual presence in the office, insulated from the disruption caused by ad hoc field work, ensures that he remains a dependable and accountable Client contact. Tony is also competent in risk assessment related to environmental impacts and has considerable experience with Geographic Information Systems, mapping and data management which all contribute to his overall utility as a project manager.
Tony has a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Geography from Monash University (a leading Australian university) and a Cert IV Training and Assessment, all of which make him a very well-rounded Environmental Advisor with valuable experience across a range of disciplines in resources, industry and agriculture. Previously Tony held positions as a Project Officer at the Department of Primary Industries in Victoria, where he undertook a range of activities including agricultural policy development, developing and conducting training programs and community based natural resource management programs.
Sarah Isbister – Environmental Scientist
Bachelor of Science Environmental Management
Sarah is an Environmental Scientist with three years experience working on a variety of mining projects across the Midwest, Pilbara and Kimberley. Commencing as a graduate in 2011 Sarah worked for nearly two years before departing to Europe to compete in the high profile sport of Equestrian Eventing. Sarah returned to Australia in 2015 and returned to APM part time, whilst she completes a Masters.
